If you lead people in a career college right now, you’re probably doing it while juggling a lot. Change is constant, expectations are high, and teams are tired. In that kind of environment, it’s easy for leadership conversations to turn into quick fixes, decisions, and problem-solving on repeat.

And sometimes that’s necessary.

But when every conversation becomes “I’ll handle it,” leaders end up carrying more, and teams get less space to think, own, and grow. That’s where coaching matters. Not as a trendy leadership word, but as a practical skill that helps people move forward, even when pressure is real.

This February, the Alberta Association of Career Colleges is bringing members together for a free virtual learning session delivered by Level52 and hosted by Ray Ramotar, joined by two Level 52 executive coaches. It’s designed for leaders who don’t need another theory. They need something that works on a busy Tuesday when there’s a staff issue, a deadline, and six things happening at once.

What this session will focus on

This is a practical and honest conversation about why coaching conversations often break down early. Not because leaders don’t care or don’t have tools, but because pressure pulls us back into fixing, managing, or taking control.

The panel will share candid stories from the field, unpack why the opening moments of a coaching conversation matter more than most people think, and introduce a simple approach that helps teams think more clearly, take ownership, and build capability over time.

Why AACC is hosting this

At AACC, we hear the same theme from member colleges again and again. The work is meaningful, the pace is demanding, and leaders are expected to carry a lot while still keeping teams steady.

This session is one way we can support that reality. It is a space to learn, reflect, and sharpen a leadership skill that makes day-to-day work feel more manageable, not heavier.

Looking ahead to May

This virtual session is an introduction to Level 52’s leadership and coaching approach. It creates shared language and foundational ideas that we’ll build on during an in-person session at the AACC Spring Mixer in May, where participants will have the opportunity to go deeper into application and practice.
