Introducing Policy to Practice: A New AACC Member Initiative for 2026

In 2026, the Alberta Association of Career Colleges (AACC) is launching a new monthly webinar series designed to support what matters most to our member colleges: clarity, consistency, and confidence in practice.

Policy to Practice is AACC’s way of sharing the right practices across our membership. This initiative focuses on translating policy, regulatory expectations, and sector standards into practical, repeatable processes that teams can apply across programs and campuses.

This series is offered free of charge and exclusively to AACC member colleges.

Why Policy to Practice?

Across Alberta’s private post-secondary sector, teams are navigating increasing operational complexity, evolving compliance expectations, and heightened accountability. While policy provides direction, it is the day-to-day application of that policy that determines outcomes.

Policy to Practice was created to bridge that gap.

Each session will focus on a specific operational or compliance area, offering:

  • Clear explanations of expectations
  • Practical guidance grounded in real scenarios
  • Consistent approaches that support audit readiness and reporting integrity
  • Space for questions, discussion, and shared learning

This initiative is designed for the departments that carry critical responsibility behind the scenes, including the Registrar’s Office, Operations, Student Services, and Compliance.

January Launch Session: Class List 101

The first session in the Policy to Practice series launches this January with Class List 101.

This session will focus on:

  • Audit-ready class list standards and documentation expectations
  • Common compliance gaps and how to prevent them early
  • Attendance and enrolment accuracy to support funding and reporting
  • Best practices for file readiness and consistency across programs and campuses
  • Operational controls and checkpoints to reduce rework and risk
  • Live Q&A to address real-world scenarios from member colleges

Session Leadership

The Policy to Practice series is led by Dmetri Berko, Executive Director of AACC.

Dmetri brings a practical, sector-informed perspective, supporting member colleges in turning regulatory requirements into clear, workable processes. His approach emphasizes consistency, risk reduction, and operational alignment across institutions.
